  • Using Focus and Concentration to Your Advantage

    work

Do you have trouble concentrating on a single task at a time? Lack of concentration often makes it difficult to get things done on time. It interferes with your ability to complete tasks you set out to do. To achieve anything of value in life, you have to improve your concentration to accomplish more in less time. Here are some ideas on how to use focus and concentration to your advantage so you can be more productive.

Pick a task and stick to it

One of the most effective ways to improve your concentration is to do one thing at a time. Whatever it is that you choose focus it to the finish instead of fleeting from one thing to another. Putting all your attention to one activity enhances your ability to concentrate and ignore distractions.

    Learn the art of mindfulness

Mental clutter messes up your ability to concentrate. Mindfulness helps you stay in the here and now. It makes it easier to give your full attention to whatever task at hand. To practice it, you have to consciously tune out distractions. Avoid thinking about things that are not essential to the work you are doing at any given moment.

Rest and refresh your mind and body

Concentrating for long periods of time can be exhausting. Avoid waiting for fatigue to set in as it can only make your task feel more tedious than it should be. Schedule periodic breaks to refresh your mind and body. Do something relaxing or exercise your brain by pursuing activities that stimulate your mind.

Take better care of your health

Tiredness, lack of sleep, and poor health make it more difficult to concentrate. You have to take care of your overall wellbeing to increase brain power and improve memory and concentration. Reevaluate your lifestyle and make adjustments, if necessary, for better health. Get sufficient sleep at night, exercise, stick to a balanced diet, and make time for rest to rejuvenate your mind and body.

    Make it a habit

Practice giving your full attention to every task that you do. Keep doing what works and find ways to improve on habits that may be hindering you. The more you stick to the process, the more you strengthen your concentration and lengthen your attention span. Give yourself a pat in the back every time you succeed at completing work you focused on. This can keep you motivated in strengthening your powers of concentration.
